Same Model Number But Significant Design Changes

I replaced my previous older GE microwave oven with an new identical GE microwave oven that had the "exact same model number". Thereby I would be able to use the same wall bracket and upper cabinet holes, That would eliminate the need for the arduous task of installing new rear wall bracket and drill yet more mounting holes in the cabinet above the microwave. I was VERY surprised and VERY disappointed to find that my new GE microwave oven with the identical model number as my previous older GE microwave oven, has all new different mounting bracket and specifications compared to the previous microwave. In product design world, you DO NOT make significant design changes (particularly those that affect the customer directly) without changing the part number. At the very least this is poor engineering and at the very most unethical.

We paid to have this professionally installed & the microwave was damaged right out of the box. The door didn't close properly so the microwave didn't work unless the door was held shut manually. The grease filters were bent without even being put in. Now we have to wait another week for another one. Don't these products have inspections before they are boxed?

Buttons too hard

The buttons are hard to press is my biggest gripe. Also setting for seconds like 90 takes extra steps compared to my old microwave. Used to be I could press the seconds and hit start. Used the potato setting and the potatoes did not get cooked at all. At least with this install, my installer made sure venting worked. If I could return and replace, I probably would.

It is too loud. This is my third microwave of this model. The sound when it works is way too loud. The appliance works, but I have to endure this extremely loud sound. The repairman says it works. I know it works. I can™€™t tolerate the excess sound.

Very happy with this GE microwave! Not easy to find white appliances anymore. Love that the ventilation has four levels. Love that I can just hit 1-5 and start to reheat some items. It also has a 30 sec button. Haven™€™t tried the cleaning option yet but like that it™€™s there. Installation was timely and smooth. In short, great microwave!

I previously owned the older model of this product and was very happy with it. When it stopped working I replaced it with the same model. The newer version is of poorer quality, the door is plastic and flimsy. The motor is louder and the rack for the glass tray inside is made of thinner materials and the glass frequently slips out of place and has to be adjusted. The oven functions as the previous model, which worked well.

Replaces old GE Profile Microwave

Generally, this is a good microwave. It replaces a 15-yr old GE Profile OTR Microwave. The controls are nearly same as old unit and work well. Capacity is slightly larger, the interior is dark grey vs. old was white that made it easier to see in oven. The display is too bright vs., GE Profile range display below, but getting used to it. I like the 4-stage vent fan speed. It only has one hood light, somewhat dim for my liking. The magnetron makes a lot of noise, much louder than the old one. Still early and hopefully it lasts as long as its replacement. Had it professionally installed and looked to be straight forward.

Bought sight unseen. So far, it works great. Some of the features of my old one are missing on this newer model. Do like the larger turn table. Inside capacity is nice and large. Install not so good. Vent to outside did not install as instructed, but was finally completed. Replaced an older model. Why were the install screw placements changed? Would have been so much easier, if the install screws were in the same place as the old model. NO OWNERS MANUAL included. Don't want to use the online version. Install instructions refer to Owners manual included, but there was not one.

Installation went OK, other than installing the grease filters. Instruction manual said to see owners manual included with microwave. There was no owners manual. Quick guide says to call and order a paper copy, but when calling, the message says they have stopped printing them an they are only avaliable on line. The online version is almost impossible to read on my phone and my computer is on a different floor. Not very convenient when trying to figure out how to use the features like sensor cooking. It seems to work OK, but will still need to figure out how to use the extra features I paid extra for. One more thing I dont care for is that the screen in the viewing door can barely be seen through. Hard to watch to ssee if something is boiling.

New Microwave Quality Control

The turntable does not turn. I turned it on and off it did not help. I unplugged the unit and plugged it back in hoping that would help, it did not. I had to call customer service and open a repair ticket. It will be a month before someone can come to evaluate / fix it. I'm wondering where quality control was, how does a brand new microwave get out the door when the turntable doesn't work.

[Employee of ge_appliances] Great unit, Single button push for 30 seconds, makes things very simple. Large, bright LCD can be seen across the other side of the kitchen. oh, and the extractor fan moves a crazy amount of air; way more than any microwave I've ever used. All very impressive!

This microwave is a disappointment compared to my previous GE over range microwave. The capacity is smaller, the size is not as tall and it is very loud. The control buttons are stiff and hard to push. Also the interior is very dark gray(had I known I would not have purchased this product). I am a long time GE appliance buyer but not anymore.

The microwave looks fine and works well, and has some nice features like the steam clean option. However, it definitely feels cheap in a couple of ways. For one, closing the door sounds noisy and hollow, like it is made very cheaply. Also, and perhaps most annoyingly, the buttons are fairly hard to press. So when you dial in the timer or cook time, you're pressing very hard to get it to register. The power seems good, and capacity is solid. I think next time we upgrade (hopefully not for another 10+ years), we'll opt for something a bit higher grade.

1. Correct Charcoal filter is not listed correctly in the Install Manual, Owners Manual, or on GE parts webpage. Representative gave me a completely difference part. 2. Door handle won't last long-flimsy-pull from top of handle not bottom. 3. Touch pad is not very responsive - need to push very hard. 4. Touch pad options are more complex than previous Whirlpool model. I'll get used to it but annoying. 5. Large interior - but why dark? Product description says it's dark as not to show dirt? Really - clean it! A light interior is far preferable. 6. Machine works .

It's a good solid over the range microwave and heats really well. I find the fan is really loud on the high setting but the lower settings are fine. I also find the panel buttons are hard to press to activate cook time, start etc.

The microwave functionally is fine. I was disappointed to open my white microwave to a dark colored interior. Our installer said you changed to the dark so stains & splatter weren't as obvious... I just think it looks dark & dirty every time I open it. I realize it doesn't impact operationally, I just don't like it. I also don't like the new (cheap looking) GE emblem you now use on the front door. Your design team is letting you down.

Adequate 1.9 cubic inch cavity in a cabinet that fit perfectly in our old spot allows for different sized microwaveable dishes and lots of variable temperature controls and cooking wattages for great control of your cooking process.
