I™€™ve only had this garage refrigerator for a month but so far it™€™s great. It is larger than a lot of garage refrigerators that I looked at. It holds all of my drinks and extra food. My old garage refrigerator would not keep frozen foods and ice cream cold enough. This one works like a champ so far. Nice to have solidly frozen ice cream!

I have this unit in my garage in SC and it is working well. Freezer and refrigerator cool to normal temperatures and the temperature adjustment for warmer or cooler has worked well too. I would give this unit 5 stars except the freezer door unseats whenever the refrigerator door is closed, and a few times the freezer door has not re-seated, though this may have been partly due to items in the freezer touching the inside of the door. In these cases, after several hours of being cracked open the freezer has had a good bit of ice buildup, but after sealing the door the defrost system has gradually gotten rid of the ice. I now am sure to check that the freezer door seats after using the refrigerator.

DO NOT purchase this fridge! We had to get a replacement after our old fridge broke and everything about it is worse in comparison. The freezer is barely colder than the fridge and does not freeze properly. The ice maker is small and any ice it makes starts to melt before it hits the container. The shelves in the fridge are also poor quality and will fall off when enough weight is put on it. Which isn't a lot as we mostly use it to store sauces. The door of the fridge also does not close automatically and you have to force it closed. The overall quality is crap and some parts of the fridge are either misaligned or not flush with each other.

Well calling the warranty department tomorrow. We have only had this a few weeks. Temperature: The freezer decided to stop working and defrosted much of our food and the refrigerator stopped getting cooled. Also very noisy if not excessive. It is a lovely frig though. I am disappointed. Will see what repair people say.

It's hard to believe how little you can expect to get for $800 today. There is no light in the freezer. The glass refrigerator shelves bend easily with just a few items on them. This refrigerator is loud when it runs, louder than my other GE and the Whirlpool refrigerator this one replaced. It also seems to run twice as often, and longer each time, even though this one is opened less often. The exterior cabinet bows out in spots and has low spots in other areas. I assume the cabinet sheet metal is very thin and was flexed easily when the insulation was installed. The best part is the GE logo on the door keeps detaching itself. I get that, I wouldn™€™t want my name on this thing either. It™€™s likely I™€™ll have Costco pick it up soon.

We followed directions and left fridge to settle for 24 hours. After plugging it in we noticed after a few days that temperature in the fridge was about 60 degrees and obviously not cold enough to store food. The freezer was working well though. We have a service scheduled but we don™€™t yet know what the problem is. Very disappointed that GE no longer provides a user manual with their products. Very inconvenient - especially when trying to figure out a problem with the appliance.

We are extremely upset because our light went out in our GE GTS22KGNBRWW. Refrigerator. We have been informed that we have to pay a technitian & have them install an entire module board to get the light replaced for about $250- $300 depending on the charge by the technitians! All to replace a refrigerator light bulb!!!! There is no recall or parts changed due to this ridiculous design flaw & nobody from the company cares. This was designed on purpose to fail & cost a third of the cost of a new refrigerator! If the company does this on one product you can bet they will do it on all of them to make more money! We have alerted all of our friends, relatives, & contacts to never ever buy a GE appliance due to their terrible design flaws!!! The word will get out that you are a company with shoddy design, no concern for customers, & lack of responsibility! This should be a max $20 fix to replace a lightbulb in a refrigerator!!!!

Bottom shelf keeps breaking

The bottom shelf in the main part of the fridge has broken twice within the first year. The glass part of the shelf hasn™€™t broken but the plastic piece that supports it and hold the vegetable drawers in place is no good. It needs a redesign. Also, there is something strange going on with protective film that protects new fridges and is intended for removal. It™€™s like it wasn™€™t scored or something and literally is glued into seams of the fridge. So we have had to cut it and it™€™s sticking out everywhere and looks awful. Finally, the fridge doesn™€™t always seal correctly and we have to physically pull the gasket/door seal back into place. All this is very disappointing. Gave it 2 stars since it at least works.

highly disappointed in this product. owed for less than 2 months and lost a lot of expensive food in the freezer because it keep going above zero degrees!! temperature reading was up to over 50 degrees at one point !! I bought a garage ready unit so I would not have to worry about the summer months with a unit that can handle the NC temperatures . Repair person came found nothing wrong with the unit but could not explain why this is happening. GE does not give any compensation for the lost food either which is even more disappointing !! I have always had good luck with other brand refrigerators and should have stuck with that brand . They will replace compressor which is insane after owning for less than 2 months.

Product was installed 8/7/2026. This is a nice refrigerator with lots of freezer and refrigerator space . Contrary to other reviews, I do not find it noisy and I don™€™t find the lack of a freezer light a detriment. However, I agree that the meat drawer does NOT open fully. Also, the shelves do not pull out. I found it difficult to readjust the shelves to my satisfaction. In addition, the freezer does not have a shelf or divider. Ice cube trays are not included, but I kept mine from the previous refrigerator.

The front rim of the freezer where the gasket attaches is uneven, which prevents a proper seal and causes constant ice buildup. I had to heat the gasket and apply silicone just to seal it properly. This poor quality is definitely not what I expect from GE.

We purchased this new refrigerator because our old refrigerator was staying right about 40° sometimes going a little higher sometimes a little lower, but it was not keeping our food cold and so we now have a new refrigerator that is doing the exact same thing. We bought a new thermometer thinking maybe it was the thermometer but it is not. It is the refrigerator and I am very frustrated with Lowe™€™s as they did not tell us if we had paid with a Lowe™€™s card we could™€™ve had it replaced within 48 hours, but I™€™m not happy with this GE refrigerator at this point and I would not recommend it to anyone. We put in a service call and we™€™re told that we had to go through GE and are waiting today for someone to show up to figure out what™€™s going on with it. I have no idea when they™€™re gonna be here. They™€™ve not called me and of course I™€™ve been waiting around since early this morning, hoping that they would show up. As I said I would not recommend GE or Lowe™€™s!

Our Whirlpool that just STOP refusing to close the door was bought 26 yrs ago at Sears with a 2 Year warranty, so we felt like we really did good for all those yrs & 2 moves! But had to get a new one & anted it to have the same features as our Whirlpool & able to deliver the next day b/c by last Fri, ours wasn't even being cold. The agent at Lowe's was a true God-send in knowing all his appliances & how they worked AND truly which ones he could deliver the next day! GE was the WINNER!! Delivery was great the next day & I asked the men to please change the direction the doors opened as it abt 2 ft toward our back door entrance, They di & said it "may not seal & clsoe as tightly- but it was Great!! The sealing frighe door is AMAZING!! The temperature gor cool very quickly and teh freezer was back to resetting the water in the ice trays. The only Noise we can hear is like a gurglingly sound away the fridge door closes - like it's swallowing water!! Very FUNNY - but not a problem. Frost in freezer is perfect - AND - we are Escatic over our NEW GE Upper Freezer Refrigerator Appliance!!! Thank YOU!!

It's just OK, not really "garage ready" for cold

Was hopeful for this appliance. While it states that the refrigerator is "garage ready," unfortunately that term does not take into account an Ohio winter. The freezer this past winter did not get cold enough to keep the contents cold. I have had to have several parts replaced so that the freezer would stay cold enough, but I have no idea if it will work satisfactory this coming winter. One of the shelves on the door fell off and broke when we opened the door, but thankfully we had COSTCO help us with that and after several months, that was replaced. So far, this summer, the refrigerator has done a good job, but I am still crossing my fingers that I will be able to use the freezer this winter. If you live in a temperate climate, this fridge would probably work OK for you, but if you intend to use the freezer in a garage in a midwest winter, I would look elsewhere or use the fridge inside your home.

Doors do not seal well even though we have it inside the house. I would be concerned if it were in garage. Have to keep fridge on 4-5 in order to maintain temperature. 3 is too warm. Called inn concerns and sent repairman and they replaced the compressor when it was only a month old. Still doesn™€™t cool as well as appliances we™€™ve had in the past.

Nice fridge, door shelves poorly designed

The shelves on the door are extremely wide. If you don't have the door shelves fully filled to capacity, then everything on that shelf falls over every time you open and close the door. The interior shelves are too close together so the deli drawer takes up the space on the shelf below making that area useless. This greatly reduces the 21 cubic foot capacity . The freezer door has the same problem..

freezer door does not seal well

Constant problem with poor seal of the freezer. Frost and ice form all the time. I have added vasoline to the seal to try and help the situation along with constantly pushing the door closed but still have major problem with frost and ice.

I love my new refrigerator especially when I open it up. The dim light gives it such a nice look & everything is clearly visible. Much more inside space in both refrigerator and freezer.

Top Freezer is So Huge....

The door doesn't swing shut on its own. I thought storing the gallon of milk in the door was adding too much weight so store it on the fridge shelves, but that didn't help. The freezer is so huge in proportion to the refrigerator part - standing in front of it we have to bend down quite a bit to see what's on the top shelf. There didn't seem to be an option for a different proportion of freezer to fresh storage in this width of refrigerator, and I realize this is fairly standard for the industry, but those of us who also have a chest freezer don't need such a large top freezer on our fridge.

The freezer works fine, but the fresh food section leaves a lot to be desired. The LED light in the fresh food section is barely adequate for lighting. The shelf options are very limited. This is a very noisy refrigerator.

Don't buy the regular version, buy the stainless!

I love the fridge, but if I had it to buy again I would spend the extra $100 and get the stainless steel version because after going through all the work to get the fridge into my home and moved into place. Then in removing the strong tape holding the doors, part of the surface film came up with the tape. It breaks my heart, but at 71 years old I don't have it in me to pull this fridge out again and return it. Don't buy the regular version buy the stainless steel.
